Water Confidence & Fundamentals is the first step for adults who have never learned to swim — especially if you feel unsure or anxious in the water. This small group course (max. 5 swimmers) helps you build trust, safety, and body control in and under the water, through clear guidance and structured progression.

The program begins with a 4-week starter phase: A1. Water Confidence Starter. All participants begin at the same time, creating a focused and supportive group experience — essential for building confidence from day one.

After completing A1, most swimmers continue into A2. Water Confidence & Fundamentals. In this second stage, you’ll further develop your comfort, coordination, and technique — now with more flexibility in pace and scheduling.

This step-by-step pathway gives you a safe and empowering start to your swim journey — with purpose, structure, and personal coaching at every step.

All new swimmers begin in either A1: Water Confidence Starter or A2: Water Fundamentals, depending on your experience and comfort in the water.

  • A1 is ideal if you’re new to swimming or feel anxious in the water. You’ll build confidence, learn how to breathe, and become comfortable with your body in the water — the essential first step before learning swimming techniques.

  • A2 is for those who already feel safe in the water and are ready to start learning basic movement and coordination. No fear? You might be ready to start here.

After completing A2, you’ll move into Course B: Safe Stroke Foundation, where real swimming technique begins.

If you train twice a week, most adults learn to swim confidently within 5 to 8 months at The Swim Academy. That’s significantly faster than the national average of 1.5 years.

Consistent training, expert coaching, and a proven method make the difference.

Appropriate swimwear: a bikini or beach shorts are not comfortable for swimming. You may want to consider other options such as an one-piece swimsuit or swim trunk, as it provides better coverage and support.

This course runs year-round, with new groups starting every 4 weeks. You sign up for a 4-week block with 1 or 2 fixed sessions per week, depending on your chosen training frequency.

All participants start together, creating a structured and supportive group environment — ideal for beginners.

If the group is full, you’ll automatically be placed on the waiting list and notified if a spot opens up.

After completing this starter course (A1. Water Confidence Starter), you can transition into a Small Group Training membership. This gives you continued access to follow-up courses — A2. Water Confidence & Fundamentals, B. Safe Stroke Foundation, and C. Breaststroke Builder — while training at your own pace and maintaining your weekly rhythm.

  • A1. Water Confidence Starter is offered in fixed 4-week blocks. Everyone begins and progresses together, ensuring matched levels and giving you a solid foundation in water understanding, breathing, and confidence — the essentials before learning to swim.

  • After completing A1, you transition to A2. Water Confidence & Fundamentals. From here, you choose a rhythm that fits your lifestyle — 1x, 2x, or 3x per week. We recommend training at least twice a week — skill progression is significantly faster with more frequent practice.

  • Your membership allows you to complete the entire Learn-to-Swim pathway (A2, B, and C), with the freedom to book lessons across our locations according to weekly availability.

  • Prefer a set schedule? Ask your coach about automatic weekly bookings — as long as slots are available, they’re happy to help you find and reserve your spot for the week.

Your course fee covers all training sessions and full access to the club facilities on the day of your swim class. This includes the pool, gym, and wellness areas.
Group classes offered by the club (like yoga or spinning) are not included.

Courses like A1: Water Confidence Starter run in fixed 4-week blocks. Everyone starts together and follows the same weekly schedule – ideal for beginners who benefit from structure and group progression.

After completing A1, you transition into a membership format starting from A2 (Water Confidence & Fundamentals), continuing through B (Safe Stroke Foundation) and C (Breaststroke Builder). With a membership, you choose your frequency (1x, 2x, or 3x per week), can swim at multiple locations, and adjust your schedule based on availability — while continuing to follow a structured progression in small groups.

If you can’t attend a session, you may request a make-up class within the same 4-week cycle. Make-ups are only possible in another group of the same level and are subject to availability – they are not guaranteed.

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to be eligible for rescheduling. Missed sessions without notice or late cancellations (within 24 hours) cannot be rescheduled or refunded. Unused classes expire at the end of each cycle and do not carry over.

All changes can be managed easily through your personal account via our app or website.
